The Router

Service Providers are strongly encouraged to use an Approved Router. A properly configured router is essential in order to set up and pass through VoIP calls without interference. An incorrectly configured router may cause loss of voice packets, drop outs, delays or incorrect/poor signalling.


Connection between the PC or ATA and the Router

Clients should use a wired LAN connection rather than Wi-Fi and if the end point cannot be connected directly to the router they should invest in a good quality switch rather than a Hub. Poor Data Cabling, the use of WI-FI and Hubs will have a negative impact on Hosted Voice Services.
